Description:
This is the saga of a family's rise and fall — and, just as much, the saga of China's automobile industry. The three Hua brothers — Wen-Han (Damian Lau), Wen-Hong (Liao Jing-Sheng) and Wen-Shuo (Michael Miu) — had depended on one another since childhood. At last they were allotted two places to emigrate to Hong Kong. Wen-Shuo, the youngest, naturally got one; the other was to be decided by lot between Wen-Han and Wen-Hong. Wen-Han believed that, as the eldest, he should shoulder the responsibility of going out into the world and looking after his younger brother, so he tampered with the draw. Show more The result was a foregone conclusion. Wen-Han and Wen-Shuo left for Hong Kong, and Wen-Hong, learning of his brother's trick, could never let it go. More than a decade passed in a flash, and the naive youths of those days had grown into men: Wen-Han had long since become the head of one of Hong Kong's largest steel enterprises, Wen-Shuo held a post at the steelworks, and Wen-Hong had become the director of a Sino-Japanese automobile plant on the mainland.
Wen-Han saw great promise in China's automobile industry, while Wen-Hong's plant was performing poorly and faced the pressure of bankruptcy. Wen-Han resolved to put up the money to acquire his brother's automobile plant and help him through the crisis. Yet Wen-Hong had never gotten over what Wen-Han had done back then, and he was stubborn by nature, so Wen-Han asked an old friend of theirs, just returned from abroad, to step in as the buyer. The fates of the three Hua brothers were bound tightly together with the fate of China's automobile industry.
