Description:
Wong Ying-Gu (Nancy Sit) is an optimistic woman who lives self-sufficiently with her daughter Suen Man-Wah (Wang Lin) and the rest of the family. She is close friends with her neighbor Wong Chi-Cheung (Hui Siu-Hung), whose son Wong Kim (Lawrence Ng) even looks upon her as a second mother. In those days corruption runs rampant in Hong Kong, and Ying, who works at a stall, occasionally takes the fall for others to pay off her debts, spending a few days in jail each time. One day, without understanding the situation, Ying agrees on the spot to be a scapegoat once again, only to be framed as a murderer and sentenced to death. Show more Before her execution, Ying cuts off her braid and asks Cheung, a prison guard, to give it to Wah as a keepsake. After Ying dies, her vengeful spirit attaches itself to the braid, but because the braid ends up in the evidence room where a statue of Guan Yu is kept, she cannot escape and remains trapped there for more than a decade...
In the blink of an eye, Kim has grown up and become a policeman. Upright and unwilling to take bribes, he is assigned to guard the evidence room. There he finds Ying's braid, and the two finally recognize each other. Yip Ka-Sing (Eddie Cheung), who framed Ying back then, has risen to the rank of inspector; he has the Guan Yu statue moved, and Ying's spirit is freed at last. Ying longs for Wah, and Kim eagerly helps her search for her daughter; with Ying's help, Kim also cracks one bizarre case after another.
