In the 1970s, a devastating fire tore apart a once-happy family. Police officer Jiang Ding-Bang (played by Law Lok-Lam) believes his wife and son perished in the flames and leaves for England in grief. Twenty years later, back in Hong Kong, Ding-Bang meets the high-society tycoon Qi Qiao-Zheng (played by Zeng Jiang) on various occasions. Show more But Ding-Bang senses that the man is not as virtuous as he seems. During a murder case, Qiao-Zheng's son, Qi Hao-Nan (played by Deric Wan), is brought to court. Only then does Ding-Bang suddenly realize that Qiao-Zheng's wife is the former wife he thought dead — and that Hao-Nan is his own son! Hao-Nan idolizes Qiao-Zheng and, knowing full well that Qiao-Zheng committed the crime, still takes the blame and goes to prison for him. Meanwhile, the daughter of Shi Chang-Chun (played by Wu Fung), a man closely tied to Qiao-Zheng — Shi Yi-Ming (played by Maggie Siu) — returns from England and crosses paths with Hao-Nan several times. Family ties and love, justice and evil wrestle within Hao-Nan's heart. Can the grudges and passions of two generations be resolved in Hao-Nan's generation?
