Пришел Будда и сказал, что они еще недостаточно готовы, и им нужно переродиться (возможно, и не один раз). Ну, и наверное, заслужить лучшее будущее. Поэтому он оставил Николаса монахом, а Чарлин сделал лошадью (она же убивала, и вероятно не заслуживает быть человеком в следующей жизни). Получается, они вместе, и в то же время разлучены.
Мне кажется, что если бы я лучше знала китайскую мифологию, то было бы еще понятнее. Например, почему у Чарлин выросли крылья и почему именно это особенно растрогало Кару Хуи.
