Description:
In the early years of the Republic of China, society was in turmoil: warlord separatism left the people destitute. A treasure map lost to the world drew secret pursuit from various forces — generals under Yuan Shikai, Japanese agents, revolutionaries. Shen Yu-Ru (Vivian Chow), an agent of the southern government, infiltrates an opera troupe to trace the map. In a struggle over it, Yu-Ru witnesses her father shot dead; overcome with grief, she accidentally falls, loses her memory, and ends up wandering the streets. Show more
Just then, Shen Tie-Lan (Law Lok-Lam), master of the Xiaosixi all-female opera troupe, brings his company back to Beiping, rescues Yu-Ru, and takes her in as a disciple under the new name Shen Ju-Xian, making her a junior sister to Shang Ju-Sheng (Fiona Leung), Zhang Ju-Qiu (Xu Qiu-Yi), and Ruan Ju-Ling (He Mei-Tian). Yet her senior sisters view Ju-Xian with prejudice and constantly bully and make things difficult for her. In an unexpected turn, Ju-Sheng falls for the wealthy young master Qiao Hao-Guang (Sunny Chan), but Hao-Guang has already given his heart to Ju-Xian, with whom he fell in love at first sight — which only heightens the tension between Ju-Sheng and Ju-Xian. Later, Ju-Xian is fortunate to receive guidance from the celebrated female-role stars Mei Zhi-Ling (Roman Tam) and Gao Yi-Ming (Koi Ming-Fai), and together with her fellow sisters she finally brings glory to the women's Peking opera troupe. By then, Ju-Xian also begins slowly to recover her memories.
