Description:
The protagonists, Jia Quan (Felix Wong) and Li Xing (Kwok Yiu-Ming), are young men of the same generation who grew up in completely different environments. Quan is blunt and hot-tempered, always getting into trouble, and already has a son and daughter — a portrait of today's father who married too young. Li Xing, on the other hand, is a construction engineer with a bright future. But fate played a cruel trick on them: both made mistakes and ended up in prison. Supporting each other behind bars, they bound their destinies together forever. Show more Li Xing and his wife Wanyi (Charmaine Sheh) grew apart due to life's hardships and chose to live separately, while Quan developed a subtle friendship with Zhishan (Monica Chan).
Quan, surviving against the odds, Li Xing, whose aspirations cannot be realized, the kind and gentle Wanyi, and the optimistic Shan — their struggle to survive in hard times is like a condensed story of each of us. In the finale, Li Xing returns to his engineering career, and Quan finds his purpose in the newspaper business. Just when everything seems worth celebrating, Wanyi's brothers, driven by greed, begin using despicable methods — cutting corners on materials at the construction site.
To prevent a tragedy, Li Xing asks Quan to help him descend into the manhole and check whether the thickness of the bottom layer of concrete meets the standard, but Wanyi's brothers set them up, and everything hangs by a thread. Only thanks to the support and encouragement of their comrades do Quan and Li Xing, trapped in the manhole, manage to escape. In the end, the couple reconciles, and Quan wins the heart of Shan and his children.
A fast-paced drama wrapped in friendship and love — don't miss it.
Li, who works at a real estate company, and Quan, a construction foreman, each commit impulsive offenses and are sentenced to prison. They meet there, get to know each other, and turn from enemies into friends, also befriending a helpful social worker, Shan. Li is released and wants to start over, but faces contempt from those around him; under his mother-in-law's biting sarcasm, he impulsively separates from his wife Yi. Meanwhile, after his release, Quan opens a renovation company with Li, former cellmates join them, and business gradually picks up. Li regains his professional license and a chance to rise, but for the sake of his reputation and future, he gradually distances himself from his fellow ex-convicts. Quan cannot manage alone, and the renovation company falls into trouble, but Shan's encouragement helps him, and true feelings blossom between them in adversity. Li's uncle cuts corners for personal gain, causing an accident at the construction site: Quan and the others are buried under collapsing earth, their lives hanging by a thread.
