Before the event, Feng tells his girlfriend and brand ambassador Le Pei-Pei that he wants to break up, but Pei-Pei, dressed in a red qipao, takes the stage, calls herself Lin Min, and begins to rave. Feng realizes that her words are lines from the final work of Lin Min, a woman who killed herself in the sixties. Feng's friend, police officer Zhong Zhi-Jian, is investigating the suicide of a woman who also called herself Lin Min before her death. Show more During the investigation he grows suspicious of the new assistant Situ Shan (Christine Ng) and looks into her background, discovering that her mother had a history of mental illness, also loved to play Lin Min, and ultimately took her own life.
Gao Zhuo-Wen is murdered at home, but everyone in the household has an alibi. When the lawyer reads the will, Feng receives nothing, while the biggest beneficiary is Situ Shan. Having lost his father and suffered a upheaval in his family, Feng leaves Hong Kong to investigate the truth. Situ Shan turns out to be Gao Zhuo-Wen's biological daughter, and Feng's own origins suddenly become murky: who is his mother? who is his biological father? how many more unknown secrets lie buried in this enigmatic family?
