Li Mu-Bai is filled with remorse and resolves to reach Yanjing before Wan-Yan Liang (Paul Chang) launches his campaign, and there wait for a chance to assassinate him. Show more The Khitan Ye-Lu Yuan (Hsieh Han) was once a trusted bodyguard of Wan-Yan Liang, but when the debauched and shameless Wan-Yan Liang violated his wife, he left the country in fury. By chance, with Li Mu-Bai's help, Ye-Lu Yuan joins the Song army. Wherever the Jin troops go, the land is laid waste and the people suffer. Chang-Qing urges Wan-Yan Liang to bring peace to the realm and cease hostilities, but he will not heed her advice. One day, after an unsuccessful hunt, Wan-Yan Liang takes out his anger on the common people; Li Mu-Bai tries to save them but is captured instead. Wan-Yan Liang never imagined that his sister would disguise herself as a martial arts master and free Li Mu-Bai. To force Li Mu-Bai to show himself, Wan-Yan Liang sends men to seize his mother, but she, believing that in a time of great peril one should remain loyal and serve the country, draws her sword and takes her own life. Li Mu-Bai, holding back his grief and fury, fights Wan-Yan Liang for a long time; fortunately, Ye-Lu Yuan arrives in time and kills Wan-Yan Liang, but Ye-Lu Yuan is himself stabbed to death by Wan-Yan Chang-Qing. Li Mu-Bai tells Wan-Yan Chang-Qing to cease the war at once and return to her homeland; just then the Song resistance fighters arrive, and Li Mu-Bai stops them from pursuing Wan-Yan Chang-Qing, but he is mistaken for a Jin spy. To spare Li Mu-Bai from this dilemma, Wan-Yan Chang-Qing takes her own life with her sword.
