When Ai Ai's former classmate Song Zi-Yan (Zhou Lei-Jing) learns of this, he is overcome with anguish. Upon finding out, Madam Liu decides to go along with it and make the best of things, arranging their trysts and telling the servants it is to "borrow seed." The two meet in secret, yet both know that carrying on this way will only bring a fatal disaster. Seventh brother, the captain of the guards, has an ambiguous relationship with the Head madam, but after setting eyes on Ai Ai he is utterly smitten — and this stirs up trouble that lands him in prison. Song Zi-Yan wants to rescue Ai Ai from her suffering, Seventh brother escapes from prison and swears to make Ai Ai his own, Liu Zhuang-Zhu lies gravely ill in bed, and the Head madam cannot hold everything together alone — a storm is about to break.
