Jia Chou 家仇

Description:

During the era of internecine wars among the warlords, nine-year-old Yu-Huan witnessed her own father defeated and killed in a struggle with the warlord Zhang Tian-Xin, and her mother died of grief. From then on, Yu-Huan and her younger brother Bai-Shun grew up under the care of the family of her father's old subordinate Tang Xue-Ren, but what could never be erased was the family feud forever burning in her heart. Twelve years passed. The warlord Zhang Tian-Xin rose from corps commander to grand marshal, and before the weak young woman Yu-Huan he grew ever more powerful and ever harder to approach. Yet Yu-Huan advanced step by step toward her goal according to her own design, having tasted to the full the desolation of the world. Just as her wish for revenge was about to come true, the Japanese Kwantung Army invaded the Northeast. Zhang Tian-Xin, a warlord who had walked on the edge of a knife all his life, refused the Japanese offer, and the ensuing troubles at home and abroad left him exhausted. By then Yu-Huan had both the chance and the ability to assassinate Zhang Tian-Xin, but faced with the choice between family feud and national hatred, she resolutely took the road of national salvation.
