Description:
The Jade Emperor and the Queen Mother had seven daughters, each as lovely as a flower. For various personal reasons, these seven fairy maidens came down to the mortal world, throwing both heaven and earth into chaos.
The eldest fairy maiden set out to find her true love, Kuixing, whom she had driven away by her own doing. The second fairy maiden fell in love at first sight with a man named Shangguan Zi-Lan, and at Chang E's urging, followed him down to the mortal realm. The third fairy maiden, by sheer coincidence, fell for Wang Jin, a constable at the yamen. The fourth fairy maiden's pet jade marten ran off to the mortal world in a mischievous mood, and in searching for it, she came to the mortal realm, where she met a prince of the former dynasty, and the two became entangled in a doomed romance. The fifth fairy maiden risked everything to keep a promise. The sixth fairy maiden, though the most timid by nature, bravely stepped into the mortal world to find her sisters. The seventh fairy maiden's story is the one we know best, and her tale with Dong Yong is far from over.
