Description:
Zhang Qiang (Alex Fong) is a legend in the legal world, with an outstanding record in court, yet after twenty years of practice he still runs a small firm, K.Cheung & Co., all by himself. The entire company consists of just him, his secretary Li Shao-Hua (Florence Kwok), and his apprentice Zhou Li-Xing. Zhang Qiang values money and fame, and it happens that the chairman of the senior committee of Donald & Co., Hong Kong's largest Chinese-capital law firm, Zhuo Ji-Yao (Lau Dan), has his eye on Zhang Qiang and invites him to join the firm he founded, to counterbalance the ambitious Liu Jin-Chang (Liu Kai-Chi). Show more Jin-Chang was once a senior figure at the Securities and Futures Commission, with political and business connections and a powerful network; Zhuo Ji-Yao offers to give up the chairmanship of the Donald & Co. committee as a condition, strongly urging Jin-Chang to become the firm's managing partner. With the help of his wife Wang Kai-Lin (Li Bi-Qi), Jin-Chang reaches another career peak. Later he discovers that Ji-Yao has no intention of stepping down, so he cultivates influence within the firm, including recommending disbarred barrister Ren Wei-Liang (Raymond Tso) to transfer to solicitor, and then exceptionally promoting the inexperienced Fang Ning (Huang Zhi-Wen) to senior partner, plotting to force a takeover. Everything is ready, and Jin-Chang's final step is to launch a major corporate listing plan to earn the capital to oust Ji-Yao. But at this critical moment, Zhang Qiang stands in his way, throwing all of Jin-Chang's calculations into disarray. A legal duel that cannot be avoided becomes the spark of mutual hostility between Jin-Chang and Zhang Qiang. Thus Zhang Qiang and Liu Jin-Chang cross swords again and again within the law firm.
