Description:
On October 10, 1942, the Wang Jingwei puppet regime held a grand celebration for its national government. Yet a series of assassinations targeting military and political officials left Wang Tian-Xiang (Wang Zhi-Wen), head of the secret service, sitting on pins and needles. While torturing a female assassin (Liu Wei-Wei) during interrogation, he obtained a crucial piece of intelligence: an underground Communist codenamed Old Ghost had already infiltrated the bandit-suppression headquarters. Eager to claim credit, Wang Tian-Xiang immediately reported to Wu Tian (Huang Xiao-Ming), head of the Japanese Imperial Army's secret service. Show more The two then set a trap at Qiu Manor, intending to force Old Ghost into the open by leaking false information.
Among the suspects were the commander's aide Bai Xiao-Nian (Alec Su You-Peng), military affairs office chief Jin Sheng-Huo (Ying Da), bandit-suppression battalion commander Wu Zhi-Guo (Zhang Han-Yu), cryptography unit head Li Ning-Yu (Li Bing-Bing), and administrative correspondence specialist Gu Xiao-Meng (Zhou Xun).
