Description:
In the early years of the Qing dynasty, the realm was still far from settled. Wei Xiao-Bao (Huang Xiao-Ming), the son of a Yangzhou prostitute, is a sharp-witted rogue with no use for learning. By chance he rescues the notorious bandit Mao Shi-Ba, and so makes his way to the capital, where he slips into the palace and becomes a "little eunuch" in the service of the old eunuch Hai Da-Fu, tasked with gathering information. Dark currents surge within the palace, and strife never ceases. Xiao-Bao deftly maneuvers among all the factions, and through his innocence and sense of honor wins the trust of Kang Xi, then brings down the arrogant old minister Ao Bai (Elvis Tsui Kam-Kong), becoming Kang Xi's favorite. Show more But Ao Bai is only one of many ambitious men: in the southwest Wu San-Gui stirs restlessly, on Taiwan the Zheng clan of the former dynasty bides its time, in the north the Russian tsardom expands its territory, and in Liaodong the Shenlong Sect makes waves. Moreover, Xiao-Bao's master, Chen Jin-Nan (Zhu Yan-Ping), the chief of the Heaven and Earth Society, raises high the banner of fighting the Qing to restore the Ming and vows to take Kang Xi's head. Xiao-Bao, handling everything with ease and charm, not only masters martial arts but also takes seven beautiful wives, writing the legend of a little man in troubled times…
