Ba He 拔河

Description:

Dr. Leung (Wong Man) is a female doctor who specializes in caring for the mentally ill. In her over thirty years of practice, many of the people she has served have come from the organization known as the New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association. These patients have suffered from severe mental problems, and by the time they come under her care, they have already entered the rehabilitation stage—yet treatment at this stage, it turns out, is not easy at all. These patients in rehabilitation often relapse because society and their families do not accept or understand them, and some eventually give up on reintegrating into society. Most tragically, some, due to a relapse of their illness, take their own lives. Ninth Uncle (Mui Chi-Ching) is a case in point: misunderstood and unaccepted by his family and neighbors. Although his daughter (Ma Si-San) desperately wants things to improve, she finds herself powerless at every turn. Faced with this situation, does Dr. Leung have any way to help them?
