Liang Yuan Tian Ding 良缘天订

Description:

Traditionally, a Chinese wedding must have a chief matchmaker to oversee it. Though marriages are said to be made in heaven, the role of this matchmaker is truly vital — both the groom's and the bride's families rely on her to handle every detail of the wedding. Hao-Jie (Lee Ngan) is just such a matchmaker, beloved by relatives and friends. In auspicious years she is constantly helping the children of family and friends get married, and even in so-called "blind years" many still invite her. But as she grows old, Hao-Jie is nearly ready to retire. Just then, she witnesses something disheartening behind certain marriages: a couple she once united years ago is now plagued by domestic violence — the wife beaten black and blue. Hao-Jie asks her granddaughter, a police officer (Candy Wen Xue-Er), to help mediate, yet she doesn't want the couple to end up in court.
