Description:
Opium War Historical Novel is not merely a historical panorama, but a spiritual chronicle of the Chinese nation's painful introspection and its awakening to look at the world with open eyes amid the storms of modern history.
Set against the grand backdrop of the Opium War, the series brings to life Lin Ze-Xu, the Daoguang Emperor, and dozens of vivid artistic figures, forming a sweeping portrait of Chinese society in the mid-to-late Qing dynasty. The film unflinchingly exposes the corruption and incompetence of the Qing government while celebrating the Chinese nation's patriotic spirit of fighting to the death against imperialism and aggression. It features both fiercely stirring chapters of resistance against the enemy and tender, poignant love stories. Through clashes of character and conflict, it reveals the reasons behind China's defeat in the Opium War.
