Tracing the cause, it is because during his time in the countryside, Liu Zong-Shu abandoned Luo Wan-Zhen, who had loved him for four years, and deeply loved another woman — an actress named Ma Mei-Qin. No one knows that Ma Mei-Qin is Ma Yao-Yao's mother.

Before long, Liu Zong-Shu met Ma Mei-Qin, an actress in the county troupe, and fell in love with her, which enraged Luo Wan-Zhen.
