Description:
After "Braving the Journey to the Northeast" and "Going West Past the Pass," another of the "three most famous waves of migration in modern Chinese history" — "Xia Nan Yang" — has been adapted into a TV drama. Compared with CCTV's 2009 New Year flagship drama "Going West Past the Pass," the cast of "Xia Nan Yang" — Eva Huang, Tong Da-Wei, Zhang Mo, Wu Ma, Yuen Wah, Wang Shi-Huai, Tong Lei, Liu Jia, Sui Jun-Bo, Shu Yao-Xuan and others — can only be called luxurious. It is also the first TV drama Tong Da-Wei took on after marrying and having a daughter in 2008.
The plot follows two families in the late Qing and early Republican era, telling the story of two men and two women who cross the ocean and completely change their own fate and that of their families. The filming location, Zhongshan Film and Television City, was specially redecorated for the drama, reflecting the scale of CCTV's investment in producing "Xia Nan Yang."
