Zhong Dian Gong Men 钟点工们

Description:

In a factory building surrounded by skyscrapers lives a group of hourly workers. The husband of Liang Da-Hua (Li Qin-Qin) was severely injured after violating work regulations. Their son, always an outstanding student, secretly took a job at a construction site to pay for his father's medical bills and nearly got expelled from school. Liang Da-Hua sold their house back home and worked desperately to pay off debts, endlessly shuttling between high-rises and luxury mansions. To save the life of the wealthy madam Bai Mei-Yan (Bella Chow), Liang Da-Hua put aside past grievances, quit the longtime employer she had served for years, and became a caregiver for the bedridden Bai Mei-Yan. Hong Yue-E (Liu Li-Li), in order to cover the tuition of her younger son Zhong Sen studying at a university in Beijing, was so obsessed with money that she turned herself and her elder son Zhong Lin into money-making machines. When she learned she had cancer and that her son had secretly dropped out of school and also become an hourly worker, Hong Yue-E suffered a devastating blow. Before she died, she told her elder son Zhong Lin that Zhong Sen was not her own flesh and blood. The reason she and Zhong Lin worked so desperately to put Zhong Sen through school was a promise. And young Zhou Wei, caring for a French girl named Joanna (Bei Ai-Ling) who had lost her mother, endured the pain of an eye disease, missed the best window for treatment, and used her earnings to pay for Joanna's expensive medicine.
