He had once been betrothed to Meng Qing-Qiu, daughter of Meng Ru-Hui, and so he was taken in. To revive the family business, Heshengtang, Chen Zhen begins to strive hard. By chance, he becomes a "life-pledging apprentice" at the Dasheng pawnshop and takes the old beggar, a master of the martial world, as his teacher. Show more Through grueling training that tempers his body and bones, Chen Zhen rises from an iron-ranked apprentice to a gold-ranked one. Meanwhile, Meng Ru-Hui secretly colludes with the Japanese, helping Japanese forces establish a foothold in Fengtian. To stop the foreign invaders' plot and protect Fengtian, Chen Zhen goes to the fighting ring set up by the Japanese schemer Funakoshi Yoshikata and risks his life challenging Japanese martial arts masters, ultimately defeating the Japanese.
