Hai-Ping's younger sister, Hai-Zao (Li Nian), after graduating from university, falls in love with a company employee, Xiao Bei (Wen Zhang), and the two also taste the bitterness of saving up for a home. Show more Through work, Hai-Zao meets the mayor's secretary, Song Si-Ming (Zhang Jia-Yi), who falls for her at first sight and repeatedly helps her and her sister out of trouble. Out of gratitude, Hai-Zao becomes involved with him, and things spiral out of control. Hai-Ping urges her sister more than once not to betray Xiao Bei's devotion, but Hai-Zao, determined to help her sister fulfill her dream, still gives herself to Song Si-Ming and becomes his mistress. When the affair is exposed, Song Si-Ming's wife (Vivian Wu) comes to confront Hai-Zao, aggressive and intimidating, leaving her deeply humiliated.
