Description:
In the final years of the Eastern Han, the realm fell into chaos. Among the contending heroes, the formidable Cao Mengde (Yu He-Wei) rose to fame. He brought the beleaguered Emperor Xian, Liu Xie, to Xudu and, in the emperor's name, commanded the feudal lords, while a disloyal ambition to become overlord quietly grew within him. Ruthlessly eliminating dissenters, Chancellor Cao sought worthy and virtuous men far and wide, promoting only the talented: from Xun Yu in the early days to Xun You and later Yang Xiu (Zhai Tian-Lin), all entered his staff and displayed their brilliance. Show more At that time, the second son of the Sima family of Henei, Sima Yi (Wu Xiu-Bo), hid his talents and concealed his name; to avoid Cao Cao's summons, he even broke his own leg. Only after earnest invitations from the heir Cao Pi (Jerry Li) did he become Cao Pi's advisor. In the struggle for the position of heir, Cao Pi and his younger brother Cao Zhi engaged in open and covert rivalry, and their respective advisors, Sima Yi and Yang Xiu, were drawn into a series of battles of wits.
At the Battle of Guandu and the Battle of Red Cliffs, masts and oars were reduced to ashes. The heroes of the older generation fade from the stage, while the sages and warriors of the new generation continue their fated struggles in the unfinished age of chaos.
