Description:
In the Guangxu era of the Qing dynasty, after the First Sino-Japanese War, the Great Qing Empire was beset by internal troubles and external threats, teetering on the brink. Yu Rui (Chen Chang-Hai), a garrison commander stationed on the frontier, championed the Boxers against the foreigners, hoping to accomplish great deeds. His beloved daughter Yu Jiao-Long (Jiang Qin-Qin) possessed extraordinary skills and superb martial arts. Disregarding the marriage her father had arranged, she insisted that her lover Luo Xiao-Hu (Peter Ho) join the Boxers, and the two of them went to the capital, hoping to found a state and make their mark. Show more The swordswoman Yu Xiu-Lian (Crystal Huang), searching for her fiance Meng Si-Zhao (Angus Tong), also came to the capital; she was determined to find the He couple, her father's murderers. The young knight-errant Li Mu-Bai (Terry Chiu) likewise arrived in pursuit of Yu Xiu-Lian. Meng Si-Zhao plotted to turn Xiao-Hu and the Boxers to rebellion, to jointly pursue the great cause of "overthrowing the Qing and restoring the Ming," and sincerely invited Li Mu-Bai to join the alliance. Li Mu-Bai, setting aside old grievances, helped Meng Si-Zhao and Xiu-Lian destroy the He couple, and further helped Yu Rui persuade the court to resolve on resisting the foreigners.
