After earning a doctorate from Jerusalem University, Li A-Mao flies home. His friend, lawyer Du Qi-Xiao, along with roommate A Yang and others, go to meet him. A-Mao moves into their apartment, where the socialite Miss Tang also lives. A Yang's wife comes home late every day, so A-Mao devises a plan to help him tame her. A-Mao then has a sudden inspiration: he holds a concert without instruments, which is really a two-man act performed by A-Mao and Du Qi-Xiao. Miss Tang has many suitors, but the wealthy Niu Ba-Ye is the most persistent. Show more Niu Ba-Ye keeps eighteen wives and concubines at home, yet lies that he has no wife. A-Mao and Miss Tang uncover the truth and scheme to make Niu Ba-Ye shell out over two hundred thousand yuan for charity. After all his efforts, the rich man ends up drawing water with a bamboo basket.
