Ma Jun arrives at the inn run by Kong Lie, pretends to be a rich young gentleman, and asks Kong Lie to prepare a sedan chair, intending to travel to the county town through Yingchou Valley the next day. Kong Lie immediately informs Huang Fei-Long, who rules Yingchou Valley, of this windfall. That night, Ma Jun is frightened by every rustle, but fortunately Zi-Feng arrives in time with a precious sword.
The next day, the Ma couple ride in a sedan chair to Yingchou Valley and immediately encounter Huang Fei-Long and his band of bandits. A fight breaks out, and both Huang Fei-Long and Kong Lie die by the swords of the Ma couple. But the revenge for his father is not yet complete: while secretly exploring Huang's house at night, they learn that the real murderer of their father is Jiang Lei (Sun Yueh). In the market town, they meet the martial arts master Jiang Lei. The three go out of town for a duel, and in a deadly struggle, the Ma couple join forces and kill Jiang Lei.
By a strange twist of fate, they meet the one-armed Zhu Ji, who tells them that back then he was keeping watch at the door, and it was his master Lin Zheng-Hai who cut off his arm. Ma Jun is torn between feelings, but the duty of avenging his father is absolute. Ma Jun and his master meet on a gloomy mountain peak, and teacher and student fight with tears in their eyes, and Ma Jun thrusts his sword into his master's chest. Ma Jun cannot face Zi-Feng and his master's wife, and leaves without a word.
The master's wife hangs herself, and Zi-Feng becomes a nun without shaving her hair. When Ma Jun, upon hearing the news, hurries home, everything is no longer as before. Ma Jun comes to where Zi-Feng practices, and she tells him only that here she is called "Hui-Chen." Ma Jun leaves the nunnery with the token of the leader of the "Free Gang," and through a moment of carelessness, the token falls into the abyss. The evening bell in the nunnery rings, the sky is full of sunset glow, and the bell's sound is like a dream.
