Biography:
Actor, screenwriter and director of Cantonese cinema, Fung Fung began as a romantic lead in pre-war films, but after a severe facial injury he reinvented himself as a character actor and became a prolific filmmaker of the golden age of Cantonese-language cinema. It was he who directed The Kid, in which nine-year-old Bruce Lee Siu-Lung played his first leading role. In his later years Fung Fung was remembered for his eccentric cameos in the kung fu comedies of Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung Kam-Bo, while his children – Petrina Fung Bo-Bo, Alice Fung So-Po and Fung Hak-On – became well-known figures in Hong Kong cinema in their own right.
