Xie Fei and Huang Xiaoming to select emerging filmmakers for Golden Rooster support program

Xie Fei will chair the jury for an emerging directors support program run by the Golden Rooster project market and video platform Douyin. Twenty works have been selected from 841 submissions. The finalists include fiction and documentary shorts, as well as works using AI. The program aims to help short-video creators move into feature filmmaking.
Chen Jian-Bin, Huang Xiao-Ming, Liang Ming and Yin Ruo-Xin will also take part in the final selection. Screenings with the creators will take place in Xiamen on November 7, with the program's results announced on November 8.
The jury brings varied experience on both sides of the camera. Xie Fei directed The Women From the Lake of Scented Souls, while Chen Jian-Bin combines acting with directing: his films include A Fool. Huang Xiao-Ming is known to audiences for, among other films, American Dreams in China (2013). Liang Ming directed Wisdom Tooth (2019), and Yin Ruo-Xin made the drama Wo De Jie Jie (2021). The newcomers will therefore be assessed by both actors and directors whose own films have already reached audiences.
