On November 2, the China Film Administration published its latest list of registered film projects. For the second half of September 2026, the agency processed filings for 60 narrative films and 16 VR films. It separately approved three international co-productions. These are projects at the registration stage, not a list of completed films.
The register lists filing numbers, titles, decisions and the regions where applications were submitted. Regions represented by narrative projects include Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang and Sichuan. The wording 'approved for filming' records a positive registration decision; it does not in itself announce that shooting has begun or give a release date.
VR projects have a separate section. These films immerse viewers in a virtual space through a headset: audiences can look around and, depending on the work, interact with their surroundings. The format is already being shown at Chinese festivals. This spring, the Beijing International Film Festival introduced a VR film competition within its immersive cinema programme for the first time.
The November publication therefore records September decisions across several areas of production. Premiere dates and casts cannot be established from this summary table.
