Baoyi, the incomparable agent known as Auntie Bao, makes her living by her eloquence and charm, but business grows harder with age, and her young, beautiful apprentice Jiajia keeps stealing her clients. One day Baoru receives a letter from her sister Baoqing in Macau: stricken by a hereditary illness, she has little time left and begs Baoru to look after her daughter Pinky. Baoru has long suspected she is not her mother's own child and has had no contact with Baoqing, so she has no wish to take Pinky in. Show more But Pinky tricks her into believing she is heiress to two million US dollars. For the sake of the money, Baoru brings Pinky back to Hong Kong and supports her. In Hong Kong Pinky is cold and distant, Baoru tries to pry into the inheritance, and Pinky guards her secret closely — each plays her own game. Meanwhile Baoru's first love, Gao Wenjie, reappears, and Pinky cleverly schemes to bring the two together. Thanks to Pinky's cleverness, Baoru wins back a good deal of business and comes to see the girl as a fine helper, and, all alone in the world, Pinky gradually comes to understand Baoru as genuine affection grows between them. When Baoru learns that the two million dollars do not exist, their relationship sours again, but in the end the rift is healed, and their bond deepens — like mother and daughter, yet as close as friends. Just as Baoru feels everything is going her way and her romance with Gao Wenjie is about to bear fruit, Pinky's biological father, the millionaire Zhou Weicai, having searched everywhere, finally finds her and wants to take her home. At the same time Baoru discovers that she too suffers from the hereditary disease, and now she is certain she was never an adopted child — she and Pinky truly share the same blood, joy mixed with sorrow. Knowing she has little time left, Baoru is forced to part with Pinky and schemes to send her back to Zhou Weicai. The two cannot bear to be separated, and their hearts break.

Основная сюжетная линия конечно не в наследстве .Героиня Кэрол - женщина за 30 , у которой не плетей , не детей - она полностью увлечена заработком .Но приоритеты пересматриваются с появлением племянницы.Встреча с бывшим знакомым ,успехи в бизнесе,намечающаяся свадьба и почти материнские отношения с племянницей.Всё перечеркивает обнаружившаяся неизлечимая болезнь.
Кэрол играет бесподобно.И если в начале кажется , что всё будет обыграно в комедийном ключе , со сменой обстоятельств драматическая игра на высоте.Я бы сказал,что скорее мелодраматическая,т. к. оставляет место позитивному завершению истории.
В фильме есть некая "душевность" ,сродни американским семейным фильмам 80-х (может кто-то скажет, сценарий оригинален или скопирован с запада?).И вот за эту "душевность" , по-моему , отвечает Глория Ип. Превосходно.Линия с проблемами в школе Глории плавно приводит к моральному изменению главной героини .
Вообще фильму присуща плавность ,не совсем драма(мелодрама) в вакууме , но число действующих лиц ограничено.
Фильм достоин просмотра и оценки в 4 балла.Но есть ещё саундтрэк - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPtIHvl1CZI , не совсем как в фильме . вообще эту песню я слышал ещё до просмотра в исполнении Wang Meihui.Ещё один вариант в мужском исполнении - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWdFJwEsR_E.
Кстати,кто знает что за фильм смотрит Глория по телевизору , первый раз оказавшись в квартире у Кэрол?И кто поёт на фоне этой сцены , не сама ли Кэрол Чэн?
За саундтрэк ещё балл. А вот за концовку полбалла снимаю.Конечно открытая концовка в виде многоточия не так бередит сердце , но разум просит разъяснений.
Смотреть всем поклонникам Кэрол и любителям жанра ( хотя странно ,я не люблю ни мелодрамы , ни драмы - исключение военные драмы ,но это скорее относится к корейским фильмам).
