The series takes the Party's line on building the army as its throughline, focusing on the passionate struggle of the revolutionary armed forces led by the Communist Party of China from the Nanchang Uprising to the Zunyi Conference between 1927 and 1935. These eventful years, which tempered original aspirations and faith, compose a heroic epic of rising from desperate straits to a great turning point.
The series mainly tells how, after the collapse of cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party in 1927, the Chinese Communists resolutely launched the Nanchang Uprising, firing the first shot of armed resistance against the Kuomintang reactionaries. Show more Six days after the uprising, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China convened the August 7th Meeting, establishing the general policy of agrarian revolution and armed struggle. At the meeting, Comrade Mao Ze-Dong put forward the famous thesis that "political power grows out of the barrel of a gun," pointing the way forward for the Chinese revolution. He subsequently led the Autumn Harvest Uprising, raising the first banner of the workers' and peasants' revolutionary army. On the march toward Jinggangshan, the famous Sanwan Reorganization was carried out, establishing the important principle of "building Party branches in the companies," and the first rural revolutionary base area was opened up at Jinggangshan, laying a solid foundation for creating a new type of people's army.
