Over this short yet endlessly long year, some leave and some arrive: the sunny, warm-hearted He Zhi-Zhou, the tomboy Guan Xin, the utterly unremarkable Wan Shi-Tong, the willful yet kind-hearted Zhao Yun-Er... A group of teenagers with wildly different personalities go through growing up and transformation together in family, friendship and dreams, moving from estrangement and conflict to a deep friendship. Driven by a shared musical dream, they form the band Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and as the college entrance exam approaches, they reach a fork in the road of their dreams. Years later, they all converge on a music festival without any prior arrangement, completing a long-overdue performance and filling in the deepest regret of their youth.
