Description:
Three tomb raiders find a luminous pearl in an ancient grave. De Long decides to keep it for himself: he seals the entrance to the tomb and kills his accomplices, Yuan Gang and Jin Gui. De Long then conspires with smugglers Li Fu and Lu San to sell the pearl to a foreign jeweler. Fearing a mishap, he hides it inside a pair of toy dolls and plans to carry them abroad himself.
In the airport hall, Jin Yun-Tai arrives with his blind wife Mei Xia and their son Xiao Yu. De Long quickly sees a chance to use the boy to get the dolls past security. Show more But only Jin Yun-Tai boards the plane; Mei Xia and Xiao Yu have already taken a taxi home. De Long hurries off the plane, and his accomplices Li Fu and Lu San press him about where the pearl is, forcing him to explain himself again and again.
After asking around, they finally track down Mei Xia's home. The three thugs lure her outside and ransack the flat, but the pearl is nowhere to be found. It turns out Xiao Yu left the dolls in the taxi, and the female driver is about to bring them back. Yet the dolls she returns contain no pearl. The thugs lure Mei Xia out once more and, by turns coaxing and threatening, question the female driver, but get nothing from her either. Then they brutally kill her and keep searching for Xiao Yu.
Mei Xia gets a phone call telling her to pick up Xiao Yu from kindergarten, but when she arrives, someone has already taken him. Back home, she pages the female driver and hears the pager go off in her own bathroom. Feeling her way there, she finds the driver's body. Terrified, Mei Xia calls the police. Li Fu breaks down the door and tears out the phone line. De Long, waiting outside, catches Lu San off guard and strangles him.
Inside, Mei Xia switches off the lights, plunging the room into pitch darkness, and plays a deadly cat-and-mouse game with the thugs. De Long enters and in the dark kills Li Fu. A battle of wits and courage unfolds between Mei Xia and De Long. Using the darkness and her knowledge of the flat, Mei Xia finally subdues De Long, and he gets his just deserts. In the end, the luminous pearl is returned to the people.
