Description:
Yang Kaihui was born into an intellectual family and received a good education from childhood. The new ideas of science and democracy turned her into a progressive "new woman." Disregarding dissuasion from all sides, she fell in love with Mao Ze-Dong and married him. After marriage, she firmly supported Mao Ze-Dong's revolutionary work and, under the White Terror, assisted him in doing a great deal of work for the Party. In the winter of 1930, Yang Kaihui was unfortunately arrested. In prison, facing the enemy's cruel torture, she chose death over surrender. Show more The film takes Yang Kaihui's arrest through her sacrifice as its first temporal plane, depicting the last twenty days in the life of this unyielding martyr; at the same time, it uses Yang Kaihui's memories of her entire life as a second temporal plane, presenting the brief yet brilliant 29-year journey of this noble woman. The two temporal planes interweave organically, shaping a true, vivid, moving, unique, and outstanding female image.
