Description:
During the decade of turmoil, Xiao Jing, Lei Ming, and other educated youths came to the remote village of Lihua to join the production team. Under Lei Ming's leadership, they set up a simple primary school in a ruined temple. As time passed, the educated youths were gradually transferred back to the city. Yu Gui, the commune's education assistant, deliberately made things difficult for Lei Ming and Xiao Jing, canceling their quotas to return to the city, which instead strengthened their determination to take root in the countryside, and the two became a couple. Lei Ming sacrificed his life saving others in a flood, and Xiao Jing suffered a miscarriage, receiving care from Da Hou and his mother. Yu Gui, unable to possess Xiao Jing, schemed to ruin the school to make her submit to him.
