Description:

The film tells the story of village chief Tian-Liang, who is determined to build a commercial street in the New Village. In order to secure a charitable donation from an old Taiwanese soldier, he seizes the occasion of the veteran's return home to reminisce and leads the entire village from the New Village back to the old settlement, to restore the "Old Market Street" deep in the veteran's memory and present him with a warm and heartfelt sense of hometown kinship. But in the process of restoration, Tian-Liang discovers that the villagers have long lost their former simplicity and human warmth... Through the collision between "environment" and "people" in two temporal spaces — the present-day town and the ancient village of the past — the film awakens in people a longing for the return of the original, authentic truth, goodness, and beauty!
