Through the eyes of a young boy, the film tells the story of Yu Gong moving the mountains in the Neolithic Age ten thousand years ago.
The arrogant mountain god piled the two great mountains, Wangwu and Taihang, right at Yu Gong's doorstep, and the stubborn Yu Gong resolved to dig them away. Facing countless doubts and enormous difficulties, Yu Gong does not flinch, persevering alongside his son and the villagers. In the struggle, Yu Gong's son Qing Feng and the mountain spirit Wei Guang come into contact, understand each other, and find another way to solve the problem: move the mountains away. Show more
In the end, astonished not only by Yu Gong's courage and perseverance but also moved by the mutual understanding and sacrifice between Yu Gong's son and the mountain spirit, Yu Gong and the mountain god let go of the obsessions and prejudices in their hearts — "the mountain in the heart vanishes, the mountain before the eyes moves" — and the two great mountains are carried away by heaven. With their own courage, perseverance, and wisdom, humans achieve harmonious coexistence with all things in nature.
