Description:
In the history of the Li clan there were men who stormed the imperial city and petitioned the emperor himself; young mistresses of the house with ruthless hearts and shrewd, capable hands; a newly minted top scholar who won fame after three years of hard study; a beggars' chief with vast wealth who could command thirteen counties across nine provinces... Among the Li descendants living in the era of reform are a mayor riding high, a manager who has lost all conscience in pursuit of wealth, a lover drowning in a haze of debauchery, a daughter-in-law who left the family and never returned... The stark contrast between history and reality, the differing fates of ancestors and descendants, together form a rich and colorful tapestry of human lives.
