Description:
Shanghai has long been a hub for foreign-funded enterprises, and people from all over the world have settled here. So a new demand arose in Shanghai's domestic-work industry: maids for foreign families. Because of the differences between Eastern and Western cultures, such maids inevitably found themselves caught up in no end of friction and clashes in their employers' homes. This film tells the bittersweet story of a Chinese maid in a foreign family.
Qiao-Yun (Wu Yu-Fang) once worked in the office of a state-owned enterprise, but when the company was restructured she was laid off. Show more Misfortunes never come singly: just then her husband had an affair and walked out, so Qiao-Yun had no choice but to shoulder the burden of supporting the whole family. Through an introduction, she came to work as a maid for the Moores, a couple whose husband was president of an American company. The Moore family's little troublemaker, Frank, is extraordinarily mischievous and does everything he can to make things difficult for Qiao-Yun.
Wu Gen-Xiong (Yang Kun), a laid-off female worker with a fiery temper, was introduced into the home of a Hong Kong boss as a maid. The lady of the house, Madam Huang, is in fact a kept woman — shrewish and mean, she is terribly hard to please.
Migrant worker Xiang-Cao (Ding Dan-Ni) works as a maid for Rachel, a Mexican botanist.
