Description:
One day, Emperor Qian Long (Benny Chan) was offering sacrifices at the ancestral temple with his civil and military officials when assassins from the Sun-Moon Society suddenly struck. Thanks to the timely protection of the imperial guards, Qian Long escaped with his life. Days later, the pregnant empress (Charmaine Sheh) was poisoned and died suddenly, throwing Qian Long into a fury. Suspecting collusion between the harem and court advisors, he decided to go on an incognito southern tour with his bodyguard E Rong-An (Mao Hua-Feng), Ji Xiao-Lan (Hui Sau-Yam), and Lian Er (Vivian Liu). Show more Barely reaching Baoding, Qian Long met Zi Xia (Charmaine Sheh), a heroine of the Sun-Moon Society who resembled the empress, and the two fell in love at first sight. From Baoding to Jinan, Qian Long punished corrupt officials along the way, but due to his subjective assumptions, he drove the Jinan prefect—who genuinely cared for the people's livelihood—to his death. Deeply remorseful, he abandoned his entourage and headed alone to Jiangnan, where the Sun-Moon Society had already laid an elaborate trap.
