Ignoring the pleas of Zheng Cheng-Gong, Emperor Long Wu-Di, and Lady Tagawa, who had returned from abroad, Zheng Zhi-Long led his troops to defect to the Qing army. From then on, father and son Zheng Zhi-Long and Zheng Cheng-Gong became bitter enemies.
Zheng Cheng-Gong led his forces against the Qing army and still stood firm in Fujian, becoming the banner of the movement to overthrow the Qing and restore the Ming. Emperor Long Wu-Di fell in one battle, and on his deathbed decreed that Zheng Cheng-Gong must recover Taiwan. Zheng Cheng-Gong's mother, Lady Tagawa, was also surrounded by Qing troops in that same battle and took her own life by cutting open her belly.
Zheng Cheng-Gong retreated to the Xiamen and Jinmen area, vowing to recover Taiwan and fulfill Emperor Long Wu-Di's last wish. In order to obtain the Dutch sea chart, Zheng Cheng-Gong went deep into the Dutch forces in Taiwan, searching for the mysterious Mr. Shu Jian. After countless dangers, he found Mr. Shu Jian, learned of the Dutch military deployment, and in one stroke captured Taiwan, recovering the precious island.
