Description:

Ye Yi-Fan and He Chun-Ru, a young couple born in the 1980s, have been married for seven years, and their son is about to start primary school. Ye Yi-Fan has toured every top-tier primary school in the city and settled on the Municipal Experimental School, a key institution. He embarks on a series of ordeals to buy an apartment in its catchment area, and He Chun-Ru is forced to go along. Ye Yi-Fan insists on buying the school-district home so their child won't lose at the starting line, while He Chun-Ru advocates attending a nearby school, living as a beacon of light and teaching by example. Their opposing attitudes spark a series of conflicts that nearly tear them apart. Jiang Xiao-Shan and Ding Wen-Bo, a young couple, are also drawn into the fray, and the two choose different paths in life. The corridor apartment Ye Yi-Fan bought cannot be registered for household residency, and his attempts to pull strings for a spot at a top private primary school also fall through. After all the turmoil, just as Ye Yi-Fan is about to compromise and enroll his son in an ordinary private primary school, Le-Le receives an admission notice from the Municipal Experimental School. It turns out that under the new policy of "equal rights for renters and buyers," the apartment Ye Yi-Fan rents happens to be in the school's catchment area. In that moment, Ye Yi-Fan is overwhelmed with emotion.
