Description:
A chance incident sparked a revolution that was bound to happen;
An immature new force in one stroke toppled a ruling class thousands of years old;
A regime seized with the blood and flesh of revolutionaries was ultimately handed over to counter-revolutionaries;
The story of the first uprising, filled with tragedy and contradiction.
The 32-episode TV series "Wu Chang Shou Yi" for the first time presents, in a comprehensive, panoramic and vividly detailed way, the moving story of the Hubei revolutionaries seizing and defending power during the bloody 83 days from October 9 to December 31, 1911. Show more It portrays the dauntless revolutionary spirit of the revolutionaries led by Sun Zhong-Shan, who did not hesitate to shed their blood for China's rise and rejuvenation, and their world-shaking achievement in overthrowing the feudal dynasty that had ruled China for thousands of years. At the same time, it reveals the painful lesson that, because of the weakness of the bourgeoisie itself and the incompleteness of the revolution, the revolutionaries, lacking a unified ideology and unified leadership, finally handed the fruits of victory to the old warlords, dealing the revolution a severe blow.
The series begins with the awakening of the sleeping lion and ends with the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of China. Using a documentary style, it depicts in detail the conduct of three major camps during the battle for Wuchang — the Hubei revolutionaries, the Qing government in Beijing, and the Beiyang warlords led by Yuan Shi-Kai — and carefully portrays a series of vivid historical figures, truthfully reflecting the political landscape and life of China in the early 20th century. It is an epic war drama with a strong documentary flavor and intense emotion.
