Description:
In the early 1970s, the Liling porcelain factory received an assignment to rush out everyday tableware with underglaze polychrome decoration. Chief technologist Xia Yi-Mo and chief engineer Shen Yong-Xiang formed the technical core. In an accidental mishap, the samples were dropped and shattered. Duan Guo-Qiang, director of the factory's revolutionary committee, settling personal scores, brought both the Shen and Xia families to ruin and death, yet the honor went to factory director Su Ding-Shan.
Thirty years later, at a porcelain exposition in Hong Kong, Su Ding-Shan's son Su Jian-Hai and granddaughter Su Xue-Qing, Shen Yong-Xiang's son Shen Guo-Rong and grandson Shen Xue-Zhao, Xia Yi-Mo's grandson Xu Qiang-Sheng, and Xia Yi-Mo's adopted granddaughter Xia Fu-Rong all appeared at the venue at the same time. Shen Guo-Rong, with his son Shen Xue-Zhao, intends to use his identity as a Hong Kong businessman to obtain the formula and firing technique for underglaze polychrome porcelain held by the Su family, to expand his own enterprise and at the same time avenge his father, who died wronged. And Xia Fu-Rong is in fact the younger sister of Su Xue-Qing, who went missing in childhood. Xu Qiang-Sheng likewise does not know that Xia Yi-Mo is his own grandfather. Around the identities of the two young people and the Shen father and son's revenge plan, for a time the grudges and passions between the families hang like a dark cloud over several generations, thus steering the intricate destinies of numerous characters.
Thanks to Xu Qiang-Sheng's generosity of character and devotion to his work, he won the full support of Su Ding-Shan's son-in-law, then deputy secretary of the municipal party committee Xiao Da-Wei, which not only resolved the family feud but also set the porcelain industry on a path of healthy development oriented toward the international market, truly embodying the entrepreneurial spirit of a new generation of young people.
