Cang Tian Sheng Tu 苍天圣土

Description:

In 1898, the British government forced the Qing court to extend the boundaries of Hong Kong. Yi Jun-Shu stopped the sedan chair to seek an audience with Li Hong-Zhang, and just then a masked man suddenly lunged at Li Hong-Zhang with a knife, but the assassination attempt failed. Yi Jun-Shu was seized on the spot as a suspect; Li Hong-Zhang questioned him personally and, learning he was the descendant of an old friend, did not punish him. At the critical moment, Yi Jun-Shu was rescued by the English pastor Lin Ruo-Han. Chi Meng-Heng was courting Lin Ruo-Han's daughter Yi Lan, but Lin Ruo-Han despised him, so Chi Meng-Heng revealed to her face the secret of Yi Lan's origins. The cruel truth shook Yi Lan to the core, and she and Yi Jun-Shu formed a bond of mutual dependence. Chi Meng-Heng secretly reported the wanted notice to the police department of the Hong Kong government, demanding Yi Jun-Shu's arrest. Lin Ruo-Han's old friend Luo Ke prevented this. The handover of the New Territories was imminent, and Mei-Niang, heedless of her own safety, helped Deng Bo-Xiong purchase guns and ammunition. Yi Jun-Shu wrote "The Song of Resisting Britain and Defending the Land." Lin Ruo-Han, Yi Lan, and Yi Jun-Shu found themselves entangled in a knot of political differences and emotional conflict. During the crackdown by the governors of Guangdong and Guangxi, Yi Jun-Shu engaged Fang Ru in a war of words that moved heaven and earth. Deng Bo-Xiong led the villagers of Xin'an in a desperate struggle against the British army; Yi Jun-Shu ran out of ammunition and was captured, sentenced to hanging. At that very moment, Yi Lan was enduring the agony of labor. A cry rang out, and on the blood-soaked birthing bed rolled a boy of China with black hair and black eyes.
