Song Chao Hui Gu Niang 宋朝灰姑娘

Description:

The Cheng family has two daughters: the elder was brought by Madam Cheng from her first marriage, and the younger is Master Cheng's own daughter. The family runs a winery, and every time there are debts to collect, both daughters fight for the chance to go to kind-hearted Squire Wang's house, because each has her heart set on the Wang family's handsome, elegant young master. At the Lantern Festival, Squire Wang held a lantern fair to choose a bride for his son, and the two Cheng daughters vied to show themselves off, until in the end they actually came to blows. On the way home, the sisters witnessed a "murder": the "murderer" was a handsome man, and the two barely escaped the scene. Yet the next day, at the market, the elder daughter actually saw both the murdered man and the murderer again, and it seemed they were in league. The elder daughter fetched the constables, but the gang tricked them and sent them away.
It turned out that the handsome "murderer" was Nangong Xuan, and the "murdered man" was Er Jiu, his servant; master and servant had gone undercover in a human-trafficking ring in order to destroy it. The elder daughter could not help but fall for Nangong Xuan.
The younger daughter used every trick to become Squire Wang's daughter-in-law, but on the wedding day she discovered that the groom was not that elegant, handsome young master, and she raised a huge scene at the wedding.
Nangong Xuan also fell under the organization's suspicion; after many dangers, he finally destroyed it, and its leader turned out to be none other than Squire Wang. But the meticulous Nangong Xuan then noticed that the organization seemed to have withdrawn in an orderly fashion rather than been crushed. Soon afterward, the younger Cheng daughter was abducted by the traffickers, which only confirmed Nangong Xuan's suspicions.
So who is the real head of the trafficking ring? Will the two Cheng daughters come to no harm? And will the sisters be able to marry the men they love?
