Description:
Feng Lao-Ye's first wife, Ai Lian, could not bear children. To continue the family line, Feng Lao-Ye took a concubine, Xiao Cui. But Xiao Cui was petty and often bullied Ai Lian. To improve the household's feng shui, Feng Lao-Ye hired a painter to create a panoramic painting of the Feng estate. Yet Xiao Cui saw a ghostly figure in the painting and, frightened out of her wits, went mad and miscarried. A new concubine, Meng Hong, then entered the household. Beneath her gentle exterior she was even more wicked, constantly scheming against Ai Lian. But soon strange things began happening around Meng Hong, and she too saw the ghost in the painting. In the end, terrified, she gave birth prematurely and died. Not long after, the painter also took his own life. The painter's wife sneaked into the estate to uncover the truth, and discovered that everything was a cunning scheme devised by the gentle and beautiful first wife, Ai Lian.
