Chen Bing (Sophie Su Yan) is a moderately well-known writer, and for a long time one thing has been tormenting her conscience. Long ago, Chen Bing had a very close friend named Qin Hai-Lan. Out of jealousy toward Qin Hai-Lan, who was always a cut above her in every way, Chen Bing committed an irreparable wrong that left Qin Hai-Lan lame. Afterward, the two went their separate ways and never contacted each other again, yet guilt condemned Chen Bing from within at every moment.
Then one day, Qin Hai-Lan suddenly appeared before Chen Bing once more. Because of her lame leg, Qin Hai-Lan's life was now very difficult, and Chen Bing finally had a chance to make it up to her. She eagerly took Qin Hai-Lan to see doctors and even found her a good job, and the friendship between them warmed again. But in truth, Qin Hai-Lan had come with another purpose in mind.
