Description:
In 1934, amid the chaos of warlord infighting, the Shi family of Jingzhen in Shaanxi unexpectedly discovers a bronze dagger, and all signs suggest it may well be the very one used by Jing Ke in his assassination attempt on the Qin emperor. The Shi patriarch hides the dagger away in secret. But little did they know that Jingzhen would never know peace again: the notorious warlord You Ke-Wen of Fengxiang and his men set out to search for it. Thus the bronze dagger, which failed to complete its assassination mission in Jing Ke's hands, awakens after two thousand years of slumber, and along with its rebirth comes a far more terrifying, bloodthirsty desire. Show more In the struggle over the bronze dagger, the Shi patriarch, the elder brother's wife, and the mentor of the Shi brothers, Mu Shi-Zi, along with his daughter, all meet cruel deaths at the hands of the bandit leader You Ke-Wen. The two brothers, Shi Duo-Ge and Shi You-Shu, embark on separate paths of revenge that lead to the same end. Over ten years, the younger brother Shi Duo-Ge grows from a hot-headed youth full of righteous fury into a disciplined, resolute and steadfast anti-Japanese assassin. Yet the elder brother Shi You-Shu, to everyone's bewilderment, tries to devalue the bronze dagger by forging copies, and in the process sinks from obsession into moral ruin. Shi You-Shu's near-pathological psyche sets his life on a course utterly different from Shi Duo-Ge's, ultimately destroying the life of Yun Mei-Er, the beloved he schemed to wrest from his brother. Caught between the two brothers, the gentle and long-suffering Yun Mei-Er is toyed with by fate: she misses her true love Shi Duo-Ge and ends up becoming Shi You-Shu's wife. In the final moment, she can only take the bronze dagger and make a desperate stand against fate, in tribute to the love with Shi Duo-Ge that was never meant to be in this life.
Will the real bronze dagger ever appear again? It will remain an endless, thought-provoking mystery of a national treasure.
