Tian Zhi 天职

Description:

This is a television drama about a doctor's duty, morality and conscience — about true human feeling, kindness and goodness.
A hematology specialist, Luo Yi, finishes his stint with the Chinese medical mission in Africa and sets off for home. But no sooner has he stepped off the plane than he becomes the object of a fierce, unscrupulous tug-of-war: Zhao Ya-Ping, general manager of the Huanya Medical Group, will stop at nothing to get him. Yet Luo Yi keeps his word, turning down both the million-yuan annual salary and the other tempting offers Zhao Ya-Ping dangles before him, and returns to the provincial No. 1 Hospital where he once worked. But Luo Yi's shrewd new wife, Zhou Shu, who treats her husband as a prime asset, forces the hospital's director, Xiang Hong, to give Luo Yi the post of deputy director behind his back. This plants a seed of disaster for Luo Yi at the provincial No. 1 Hospital: first, it makes director Xiang Hong doubt his integrity; second, it provokes vicious, cutthroat competition from Lin Wei-Min, head of the hematology department, since that deputy director's post had already been all but promised to Lin Wei-Min, the rising star of hematology.
Luo Yi holds fast to a doctor's morality and conscience, strictly upholds professional ethics, breaks some of the hospital's unspoken rules, and blocks the path of Zhao Ya-Ping, Lin Wei-Min and Liu Xin to wealth and power. Luo Yi and his colleagues keep the oath they once swore as doctors: to heal the wounded and rescue the dying, to safeguard their patients' health and lives. The selfless devotion of these angels lets patients feel the true warmth of human feeling and of society.
